Lady suspected to have drowned with Castro identified
The lady suspected to have drowned
along with hiplife artiste, Theophilus Tagoe aka Castro in a sea
scooter accident at Ada has been identified as 24-year-old Janet Bandu.
Janet is a student at the Mayfair
Design School at Cantonments in Accra where she is pursuing a course in fashion
and design.
She also featured in a reality TV
show dubbed “I'm In Love with Bomaye” on Multi-TV in 2012.
Her father, Staff Sergeant Joe Bandu
(retd.) told Asempa FM on Monday that his daughter schooled at Kasoa in the
Central region before continuing at Mayfair Design School.
He said the family lives at Kasoa
and knew Janet was in school until Sunday when they heard of the incident.
The ex-service man said he had just
returned from northern Ghana after attending the funeral of a brother.
He claimed to be hearing conflicting
information regarding the daughter about the incident and has since dispatched
Janet’s brother to Ada to be able to gather information on what exactly
happened.
An uncle of Janet who also spoke to
the radio station appealed to the public to dispel negative reports about their
daughter that nobody knew where she hailed from.
He said the family was depressed and
finding it difficult to entertain such rumours about their daughter.
Castro and Janet were said to have
taken one of the sea scooter (Jet ski ) out on a cruise on the Volta Lake when
the accident occurred.
Sources said Castro and Janet
suffered the accident on the Volta Lake while on a weekend getaway with Black
Stars’ striker, Asamoah Gyan who had taken his friends on a boat cruise in Ada.
Gyan is said to usually rent a yacht
to entertain close family members and friends whenever he is in town for
holidays but the said yacht was unavailable this time around, as it had been
sent out for repairs.
The police are searching for the
bodies. Their sea scooter has been recovered by police.
Friends have taken to social media
to pay tribute to Castro, despite his death not being officially confirmed.
