Wizkid Targets World Market

Talented Nigerian musician icon Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, popularly known on the world music scene as Wizkid, who is billed to perform at the Hennessy Artistry Concert slated for Saturday, October 18 at the Accra international Conference Centre (AICC), has revealed that he is working tirelessly to become a global icon through his music.
The 'Holla At Your Boy' hit maker would be sharing the stage with fellow Nigerian artiste 2face Idibia, South African duo Mafikizolo, Ghanaian artistes 4×4, MzVee and Edem and three of the world's biggest DJs; French Kiss, Virusky and Nii Ayi Tagoe.
In a chat with English DJ and presenter Tim Westwood on the 'Westwood TV Talk Show', Wizkid said he draws inspiration from legendary musicians Fela Kuti and Bob Marley who themselves became legends by doing influential music in their time.
Wizkid, who is a musical genius whose style is not limited to any genre, said, 'I just want to take the music global without changing my sound, maintaining what I sound like and just making good music.
Since the time of Fella and Bob Marley, you know, no one from Africa has actually cut across. No one has done it the way they've done it, so it's like someone needs to do. I feel really strong about it and I know I can do it.'
